The goal of this project is to improve undergraduate education by further developing a series of innovative video8based online materials for International Teaching Assistants (ITAs) at MIT. Created specifically for teaching assistants for whom English is a second language and the USA a second culture, these videos will focus on developing ITAs’ strategies for successful, student8 centered communication in the interactive American classroom. These videos will demonstrate best practices through authentic examples of successful teaching scenarios, interviews with undergraduates and advice from experienced ITAs. The online materials will be incorporated in 21F.217, Workshop in Strategies for Effective Teaching (ELS), and 21F.232, Advanced Speaking and Critical Listening (ELS).
