What you need to know
Faculty governance plays a key role in curriculum and educational matters at MIT. The Registrar’s Office provides administrative support and guidance to a number of standing faculty committees including the Committee on Curricula (CoC) and the Committee on the Undergraduate Program (CUP), along with its subcommittees on the Communication Requirement (SOCR) and the HASS Requirement (SHR).
In addition, we work closely with the following committees:
- The Committee on Graduate Programs (CGP) maintains oversight of graduate subjects, programs, and policies.
- The Committee on Academic Performance (CAP) and the Graduate Academic Performance Group (GAPG) receive and act on petitions from students and recommend candidates for degrees.
- The Committee on Discipline reviews and resolves complaints against students and student organizations.
