What you need to know

If you take the same subject more than once, both grades will appear on your internal and external academic records and are used in computing your term and cumulative GPAs. You will receive unit credit for a subject only once, except for subjects specifically labeled as “can be repeated for credit” in the MIT Bulletin and the Subject Listing & Schedule. Each time you repeat a subject, your GPA is calculated based on the normal number of units for the subject.
