The MIT Digital Music Ensemble is a new course being created to allow students to engage with the act of creating and performing music using computational systems. In this course, students will gain experience with contemporary musical practices, and will learn how musicians have leveraged computers to create new forms of composition and performance. The ensemble will not only provide students with a musical experience, but it will also provide an opportunity for students to apply their technical knowledge and skill to artistic productions, and will serve as a model to help them reflect on the ways in which the technology they create will shape the culture of the future.
