Implicit across the five NEET threads is the fundamental issue of problem definition. That is, addressing societal needs requires defining a problem or problems to be solved. What if the very definition of the problem itself forestalls solutions because it fails to take social, cutural, political or economic factors into account? This grant extends the work we are piloting in 2019 in two NEET threads to teach students critical thinking about problem definition through historical case studies.
