This project addresses the transformative impact of generative AI on language and intercultural education by establishing a community-driven departmental action team, Artificial Intelligence and Multilingualism (AIM-DAT), within Global Languages. Through iterative, evidence-based inquiry, AIM-DAT will develop, assess, and critique AI-informed pedagogical practices. Complementing this work, the Language and AI Learning Alliance (LAILA) will curate and disseminate insights across MIT and beyond. Together, these initiatives position language and intercultural education as critical sites for rethinking post-secondary learning in the age of artificial intelligence.
