Artificial Intelligence and the Literary Representation of Consciousness

I am designing an undergraduate course to be offered during the 2024-2025 academic year. The course will examine literary representations of consciousness alongside recent digital studies scholarship on AI. Students will draw on literary techniques to analyze the representational techniques of generative AI. Students will also consider how the representation of consciousness has changed since the late nineteenth century.
