Funding traditional singers and musicians

Request for funding to support a live concert series every fall in conjunction with 21L023/21M225, “Folk Music of North America and the British Isles.” For more than a decade I have had to spend my precious time every year arranging for funding for this essential aspect of the class—seeing deans and department heads and filling out forms for the Kelly-Douglas fund--and worrying about whether or not there was enough to add another performer when serendipitously another traditional performer turns up during the semester. I am committed to teaching this class for the next five years and would like to guarantee the funding for these concerts—which have a significant impact on many students, not only those in the class. Many members of the MT community—faculty and staff as well as students— attend these concerts, which are free and open to the public.
