The requested funds would be used to enhance the law curriculum for MIT undergrads through several innovations. The most important and costly would be the development of the AV resources needed to implement a “flipped” instructional strategy such that classroom time could be freed for interactive and student-centered learning. That effort would be new to this grant. The funds would also be used to continue certain teaching initiatives supported by an earlier Alumni Class Funds grant, including building a library of AV recordings of law class meetings, developing teaching materials on cutting-edge legal topics, and developing online exercises designed to assist students in synthesizing legal materials. Evidence as to the success of these earlier efforts is also presented.
