Literature 2025 is a tripartite, collaborative initiative to re-imagine and adapt the strengths of traditional literary study and our “great books” curriculum to fit the new realities of the post-pandemic 21st century. Specifically, we plan to expand interactive digital experiments run by individual instructors in order to coordinate our unit’s online pedagogical efforts more effectively within a hybrid learning context; to develop clearer pathways through a divergent and diverse curriculum that is no longer transparent to students nor to advisors in other Schools; and to devote new energy to outreach and community-building for our MIT undergraduates in response to several intersecting societal crises.
