What you need to know
The d’Arbeloff Fund for Excellence in Education and the Education Innovation Funds for Teaching and Learning (formerly Alumni Class Funds) provide grants to faculty in support of projects focused on developing the undergraduate curriculum.
Funding reflects the vision and priorities for undergraduate education under the stewardship of the Office of the Vice Chancellor. The Registrar’s Office coordinates the proposal and selection process, provides guidance and expertise to faculty, communicates funding decisions, and gathers and disseminates project outcomes. Together, we engage with the community to support and shape undergraduate education at MIT.
Goals are to respond to emerging trends in education, encourage innovation in areas where traditional funding may not be available, and engage faculty in robust discussion of undergraduate education. In particular, these grants enable faculty to experiment with new pedagogies or technologies, rethink and refine approaches to the GIRs, and incorporate successful experiments into the permanent curriculum.
Some key points to remember:
- Proposals to the d’Arbeloff Fund are typically due in early fall for the following academic year.
