Biological Engineering is an interdisciplinary and diverse discipline that is rooted in emerging computational technologies and has become more dependent on computational innovation over time. Despite our curricular attempts at keeping up with the rapid growth of computational technologies, our undergraduate and graduate students have expressed difficulty in leveraging the resources available at MIT to become more confident incorporating computational thinking into their work. Our goal is to strengthen and expand our peer-to-peer, discipline specific resource for computational thinking and coding education. We have three goals to 1) provide peer support for classes and research 2) support the core computational curriculum and 3) create a coding community. We aim to build the BE Data Lab as a trusted space to support students on their computational learning journey.
