Coauthor is an open-source software system to enhance collaboration in MIT classes. The software makes it easy for students to record notes, discussions, ideas, and results in the moment. Coauthor enables a different mode of highly collaborative research, where students feel open to share their thoughts and approaches during meetings because their contributions will be recorded and thereby recognized, even if they are too shy to bring up their ideas in person. The proposed work is to advance Coauthor from its current state, in particular to mature its teaching features.
