I propose a new course for Korean VI which is the highest-level course within a six semester sequence. This course will be designed with a “learning by doing” approach, and students will interact with native Korean speakers in the community. Pedagogically, project-based teaching will be adopted to train students to the advanced level. This content-incorporating course will encourage and enable students to continue in Korean-related courses such as history, literature, and cultural studies. Also, the integration of socio-cultural learning goals and interactions with the Korean community will add further diversity to the learning opportunities at MIT. Work on this project will take place during 2021-2022.
