This project will enhance the MIT BioMaker TV Experiential Learning Opportunity (ELO) initiated in fall 2020. The ELO succeeded in building community for first-year students, providing an opportunity to explore topics in engineering in the life sciences, and creating valuable STEM educational content. Building upon this success, we will create a curriculum with the project framework and technical training materials to make MIT BioMaker TV a perpetual offering. MIT BioMaker TV offers students an opportunity to explore and research a self-selected topic. Students will gain experience synthesizing concepts and delivering educational content to a younger audience. The approach of “student-as-educator” is a valuable mechanism by which the content is reinforced, and communication is emphasized.
